The summer house rebuilding is pushing on, & spirits aren't being dampened by the usual Guy Fawkes weather. Brickwork is almost all in place, with the fireplace courses & chimney stack being finished off as I type. Negotiations are also being finalised with regard to the roof & timberwork, & the dream of another fully restored garden building at Hill Close Gardens nears reality.
The pictures show timberwork & surrounding new (reclaimed) brickwork, all constructed using lime.mortar mix. The building is being restored to include the floor level that was removed some time ago, therefore a shallow basement will once again become a very handy storage area. A new access structure will be installed to allow access to the main door, which will be elevated above the surrounding ground levels. As the year draws to a close, we look forward to seeing the roof & tiles installed to seal out the weather, & to having the reclaimed flooring fixed in place, doors & window etc.
The look of plot 16 is being transformed with its restored building, & I'm sure the view from its window & across the gardens to Warwick Racecourse will make all the hard work worthwhile.
Back soon,
Gary
